Before your next construction or remodeling project think about how to save on disposal costs (currently $155.56 a ton at the transfer station!) by identifying materials for reuse and recycling. Use this guide for cost saving disposal options.

Start with the four materials that are easiest to recycle

• metal scrap

Separate out the materials and use a debris box service to contain these for recycling. Many local construction companies accept materials such as concrete, dirt and asphalt for reuse or for making recycled aggregate.

For remodelers, donate your old fixtures and appliances that can be salvaged to Humboldt Habitat for Humanity, Resale Lumber, and other secondhand stores locally.
